Since I’ve connected with so many new authors I figured I’d introduce myself.

👋 I’m Ami, a multitasking mom, library science student, homesteader, and poet published under the pen name Slumber. I’m also a volunteer and advocate for those who are food insecure and disability rights.
On the hunt for some eye-opening cooking/food books or documentaries… think Just Eat It, Fed Up, Fat Head, and The Food That Built America.

Nothing with Morgan Spurlock (I’ve had my fill, thanks).

Got any recommendations? Drop them below!

If this doesn’t sum up motherhood, I don’t know what does:

Dinner’s almost over, and I go to use the bathroom. I'm settling into my rare moment of solitude, and there is a knock at the door.

Alright everyone 💖

Help a busy momma out, what are some of the best resources, documentaries, books, etc on volcanos.

I got a kid with a special interest and he’s been deep diving into everything about volcanos and how they work - specifically the ring of fire. 🌋

Yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but we didn’t take the day off from homeschooling. Instead, we dove into the story of Ruby Bridges, researching her incredible bravery and the lasting impact she made on the civil rights movement.

Did you know?

A common misconception about food pantries is that “government food” is free—but it’s not! While programs like USDA TEFAP help provide some support, we still have to purchase much of the food we distribute, in addition to relying on donations from our community.

Growing up in my small town, there was an old man who drove from house to house, collecting garbage. He wasn’t just the trash guy he was a kind soul, always smiling, always ready with a milk bone for a well-behaved dog. He made work feel like care, like community.

Gonna start moving some of my threads over here…

Oh, how fortunate I am that my Epson printer comes with an “easy open back”, because, you know, nothing says “efficiency” like having to unjam it every fourth page. How would I ever survive without this feature?

See, my problem is I want to buy a book from every single one of you and I can’t currently do that.

Doesn’t mean I won’t start though!

when you feel even the smallest spark of "i want to make something" or "i want to do something", do whatever it takes to hold onto that feeling, because it's so easy for your dreams to get swallowed up in the everyday struggle to survive

Here’s the truth about weight loss surgery: I’m proud of my results, I’ve lost 200lbs and I’ve worked so hard to get here. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—it’s an emotional journey, and it messes with your mind in ways you don’t expect.

I’m also here to connect with other authors! I’d love to hear about what you’re working on, swap ideas, and cheer each other on. Let’s talk stories, writing highs and lows, and all the little wins along the way.
