Coach to neurodivergent academics and thinkers for zest, executive function, motivation & self-regulation. Positive psychology coaching research practitioner. Lover of Mossy the cockapoo. Avid traveller, learner & habit-stacker. #ADHD #Autistic
Experiences of awe and wonder seem to help us somehow gain perspective, requantify things and - I think - help us use our senses to anchor us in our own world. Awe is a great way for me to exploit my sensitive senses, instead of blocking them out. What generates awe for each may be different...

Unidentified warm bright object!
A few days of sun and my mood and motivation are noticeably up. Light levels do interact with neurotransmitters, which is new knowledge for many of my coachees.
Next year, research, business and creative goals will be undertaken in summer for me and I will

This is my mini me (my character mini). For years, I wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons but couldn't find people to play with. Now I have, and it's been affirming, inclusive and a lot of fun. I am learning to run games, and am looking at the psychological benefits for ADHD/autistic folks and

Here are my "soft clothes" that I wear when I want to travel comfortably and reduce my sensory burden so I can concentrate on getting through customs - they also work for post-meltdown self-care in the middle of winter. 😉

If you want to go further, you can then map what you've noted about your sensorium to certain sensory supports or environmental tweaks e.g. noise on bus > noise cancelling headphones, bright lights in supermarket > polarised glasses, smells of cleaning products > change to unscented brand.

Cold water?
We usually either love it or hate it. What you feel about cold water is part of your sensory profile - something we all have & specific to us. If you are later-discovered #autistic, it can be useful to map your sensory profile so you know what to mitigate/have more of.

Knowing my sensory profile makes it easier to regulate myself. I'm under-sensitive to cold so I enjoy it. Sometimes sitting in the cold for a while is a form of stimming that helps me feel alert. I love frosty mornings in particular. What about you, as we all have different profiles. #Autism #AuDHD

Meet Striker Thunderscale, my high rizz scholar-paladin alter-ego from Dungeons and Dragons. Next year, I am embarking on positive psychology coaching research on games and role-playing, and any opportunities for appropriate application in coaching. I'm proper excited! 🛡️⚔️🧤📜

I don't know who needs to hear this but little and often is better than nothing and never. Sometimes, if I feel I can't spend enough time working towards a task or goal I don't start because I feel it's not worth it.

This is why I try to do things for a few minutes when I can. It adds up over time.

The line in the sand is a commitment that you make to yourself that you don't waiver on because
- you chose it
- it is true & right
- it is doable
- it aligns to who you are
- it relates to something you believe in
My line in the sand is to go for a short brisk walk each morning. What's yours?

This weekend, I climbed my first mountain. I've "failed" at other mountains so far. With self-coaching, reflection, planning & moral support, I was able to meet my sensory and emotional needs so that I could confidently reach my first mountain summit. With the right approach, we can do hard things.
