To be more specific, I got stuck on the Linux firmware. I can drop more info later! Abandoned ship for now because there comes a point I simply have to walk away - I’m sure we all know that lmao

Hmmm. I’ll try out Gentoo on my old gaming desktop today and keep you updated. I don’t have an issue being an opinionated (I’m an attorney in my day job lmao) but I do have an issue with the tone of most responses. I can’t imagine telling a new attorney “go read the case law” when asking a question.

I ended up figuring out the issue with the help of my husband (who is my resident CTO).

I truly wouldn’t be as involved with Linux if I didn’t have a resource I can talk my thought process out and troubleshoot my issue.

It’s truly so annoying to find a forum post and it’s mostly “iTs DiY rTfM.”

Maybe I will try Gentoo out on my old gaming desktop. Any suggestions? I’m running Fedora on my main desktop, I had EndeavourOS on my ThinkPad - it’s now Arch KDE. The old gaming set up is running Arch Hyprland.

100%. 90s aesthetic doesn’t = 90s functionality. I did find what I needed and now I’m off to explore what Debian has to offer!
