I’m finding it difficult to find great people to follow here… any tips? Recommendations of people you love to interact with?

It’s wild that there are fully grown adult humans who believe the Earth is flat, vaccines cause diseases, birds are government surveillance drones, and Finland doesn’t exist. And I’m over here trying care about my kid’s 65% in grade 10 math. I think he’ll be just fine.

Driving my kid to band we realized it’s not dark when we head out, and this is the most hopeful I’ve felt in months. I hate the lack of daylight in winter. How is it possible to be born and live somewhere for half a century and never adjust to the seasons?! Here’s to longer days ahead!

Looking to connect with people who care about progress, equity, and calling out bullshit. If you’re done with performative politics, value progress, equity, and sane discussions, I’d love to follow you!

Let’s hope this place stays at least reasonably sane.

Say what you want about “bad novels,” “shitty movies,” or “stupid songs”… At least those artists are out there trying to make their dreams happen, not slamming their “hot takes” onto the internet with Cheeto-stained fingers at 1am, wearing rank plaid pj pants, marinating in their own mediocrity.

Scary times to be a rich asshole, huh?

When I was a little kid, the supermarket my parents shopped at had a booth where you could pop in 25¢ and watch a few minutes of cartoons. The times I got a precious quarter and like 5 mins of Mighty Mouse were glorious.

Made a card for my kid’s 15th bday that he actually found funny, so I think this week’s off to a good start.

Sometimes I feel ridiculously sad that people like George Michael and Freddie Mercury are gone.

The constant shaming of people who shop at Walmart, Loblaw, Amazon, fast fashion, etc are so cruel. It’s easy to tell people to “shop local!”, but in this economy, affordability is survival for many people. So many don’t have the privilege to choose to spend more.

I bought a bunch of tools for making rings from someone on Marketplace cuz my eldest is taking jewelry making at university, and the person also had a piercing gun for sale. Now, I KNOW why piercing guns are a bad idea, but do you know how tempted I was? Man, I’d pierce everything & everyone.

I know exactly two things about Wicked: it’s about witches, and one is named Elphaba. Otherwise, somehow, I’ve been totally insulated and don’t know the songs or story at all. But I want to see the movie SO much, because come on… the buzz about it is amazing.

How come the darkness at 6:30 PM this time of year seems darker than the darkness at midnight in July?

I watched The Holdovers the other night, and really, really loved it. It’s so beautifully directed, and the acting was perfection. What a great story.

I’m a cat-loving, pro-choice, critically-thinking introvert who’s all about bodily autonomy, taxing the rich, and being a loudmouth advocate for equity. I spend my days writing words for dollars and questioning *everything*.
