we all stand together. So what is to be done? The death machine will not stop unless it is stopped, and the long night of terror seems endless. But the sun does not rise of its own accord, and history does not act, we do. Just as you revolted once to find yourself, we must revolt again to free each other. Some of you who will read this have felt this in your bones already, for others it dawns on you still. That we could organize our food to feed each other, our medicine to heal each other, our clothing to clothe each other, the land to house each other, the schools to teach other. We are not disorganized, we have simply been forcibly organized against our will! There is much work to be done, we must first connect again with one another. Figure our our strengths and weaknesses, what we need and what we can provide. We must organize to tear down this hierarchy, to build a democracy without representatives, so that our voices can be heard without being silenced. We have done it before, and we can do it again. From the redwoods to the blue oaks, we can end this long night and bring a peaceful day over the horizon. We can, as workers, as Queers, as BIPOC individuals and communities, collectively run our society. We have become so alienated that the idea sounds ridiculous on its face for many, but we take this project one step at a time. We learn how to speak for ourselves, how to find connection and safety again, how live democratically, how to manage our resources, how to grow our bodily autonomy. The first Pride was a riot, but if our Pride is face this most perilous of times, our Pride must be a revolution. Until we are free, Moon.

patriarchal norms. But though you feel a degree more free, you, same as I and everyone else, lack freedom. The ability to act according to your wishes, to grow according to your whims, you, just the same, lack autonomy. We spend most of our lives living through totalitarian systems, our bosses act like monarchs, our landlords drain us dry, our ecosystems burn, our food prices rise, we go without food, without water, without peace, without joy because to even live costs money we simply do not have. It is suffocating! Meanwhile our tax dollars go to create missile and bombs to murder Palestinians, the Sudanese, to slaughter the people of the Congo. Is it so different then? Does Capitalism not choke us out at every turn, the same as the State, the same as Patriarchy and White Supremacy? The system predicated on the ownership of land and production by few, which is protected by the State, who promised us rights but takes them back as soon as is convenient to it, at our darkest moments? Because to be free means to exist where nothing can destroy your autonomy by raw force, and the State is defined by owning access to the lion's share of violence, the simplest truth is that there can be no freedom while it exists. The situation feels hopeless, as though we are powerless to effect these most morbid of conditions. Is it so different then? From how Marsha P. Johnson felt? When Stonewall was attacked in a cop raid? And yet we fought back, and won by force of our ability to manufacture our own power the right to exist publicly, at least for a time. The first Pride was a riot. And just as your personal rebellion won you the honesty of your self expression, our collective rebellion won us the power of social existence. But now the monster sheds its thin mask of humanity, and genuine, earnest Fascism arrives. "Transgenderism must be eradicated from public life" is what was declared at the RNC. Even know Democrats one by one fall in line behind that mantra. Many lives have been lost, and cruelty abounds. But we are not alone. We were not alone then and we are not alone now. No! We are scattered, but not few. We are neither singular nor weak! To be Queer, as is to be Black, to be Brown, to be Asian, to be Native, to be poor, is to stand at the precipice of every struggle. We think, mistaken, that because we are singular we are weak. We think, mistakenly, that because are weak we cannot come together. And again, perhaps most mistakenly of all, that there is no future, just an endless procession of "nows" and "some days" to trudge through. As though history is not up to us, as though we can not make it, only be made by it. No. Every step you take echoes backwards in the halls of history and forwards towards the frontiers of the future, every act you take is historic, unprecedented. Every moment you submit yourself to that great injustice- self submission to a machine- you rob yourself of a chance to doff the mask of the laborer and become, once more, the human you are. No. You are history making itself, you are the past awaiting a chance to be recollected, to ask yourself "what did I do, when the world became intolerable?". When the labor became to great, when the violence carried on by the the state became too vast to turn from, when patriarchy submitted friends and strangers alike to its millenia old tactics of sexual violence and domination. "What did I do, when this system became intolerable?" When first percieved that world had been oriented by finance and capital to keep you at the bottom, when your forced gender left you dissociated from yourself, when thr compulsory heterosexuality of society left you ashamed of your humanity, what did you do? Avoided it perhaps, at first. Looked away, veered hard in the direction of the master's wishes, sought bury it. But you could not bury yourself within your own heart, no. Your more honest self, like a cancer, clawed at the edifice and found that armor weak, found that your inner strength was far greater than your outer submission. You rebelled, you found yourself. Some shed old ties, some found them welcoming. Some bridges has to burn to walk the road of life. Your world changed. Is it so different then?
