I have spoken with the resistance rangers folks through my work on data rescue and they are legit.

Their accountant website is hilarious. According to FT this is the entire website.

Also providing accessibility guidelines for presentation materials for presenters.

My main professional society, the research data access and preservation association @rdapassociation.bsky.social has made a real effort to be more accessible in their website and online conferences and it is appreciated. They always solicit accessibility needs and feedback.

I just read it this year! Checked it out from the library.

All conferences should come with a tea break.

Hilariously I was just listening to a podcast and got a thanksgiving ad from a grocery store lol

Keep in mind supermarkets in the US are highly regional so the big chains where I grew up aren't the same as out here etc.

Tbh I no longer own anything with a TV antenna, but when I did yes. They would run ads with the local TV news and so on. Also for the big grilling holidays like 4th of July.

Thanksgiving is a big moneymaker for supermarkets. All of my local ones have their promotions up.

Any "efficiency" was swiftly lost trying to find alternate services for stuff like web hosting and software that didn't have reoccurring payments and making sure staff remembered all the payment schedules we had to do. Spent way more in staff salary than it ever saved.

Ok, I know this is a niche complaint, but when musk was talking about reoccurring payments that really annoyed me. I used to work for the state of Florida and we weren't allowed to buy anything that had an automatic payment because of dipshits like musk and it was the *worst.*

There actually is a type of cracker you can buy called nut thins. I'm pretty sure it's almonds though. They're good!

Yeah, I would love an ebike but it's really difficult for me to justify the expense when there's no way I could ride it in the winter and live in an apartment.

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt seem to have a very wholesome friendship though.

NYC actually desperately needs a city funded TNR program. We have a huge feral cat problem, especially in Brooklyn, it's ridiculous we don't have one already. If he wants to take it on I would be ok with it.

I often feel like PIs and attendings who take mentoring seriously forget how many of their peers just... Don't. As a librarian you see the whole range.

As someone who helps students with systematic reviews, a lot of supervisors are the ones pushing AI for them. As a librarian we can try to talk them out of it but we don't have as much sway.

I have been able to use the squishiness of this kind of view to present very critical presentations on AI in my very bought in institution, so you can use it to your advantage.
