Tenacious and strong-minded, or so I’ve been told. (she/her)
The foreclosure issue aside, old rowhouses are sold for less than 100K, gutted down to the external brick walls, renovated, and sold for more than 200, 300, or even 400K on a routine basis in many Baltimore neighborhoods.

Reconsidering the season, let’s amend that to the top 1/2 inch.

Sure, the top 2-3 inches may be warm but staying there requires levitation as well as floatation.
Sadly, not within my skill set. ☹️

The catalogs were bad enough but do you remember the *smell* of an actual tack shop?
Decades later, the memory still makes me swoon.

Me, too! Met like-minded folks in my neighborhood and we got lots of positive feedback from passers-by.
Wore my Statue of Liberty costume in lieu of carrying a sign.(Brain said, “Not enough spoons to make a sign right now.) Symbolism sufficed.

English to western is so much harder than driving on the other side of the road, where everything’s just reversed. Fundamentally, conceptionaly opposed!

Minced lamb can reliably be found at Lidl & Trader Joe’s in the Baltimore area.
For the win: Shepherd’s pie - easy and delicious! (insert joke here) Runner up: meatballs.😋

At first, I thought this was a reference to white men going through life in easy mode and then realized it would’ve been a Y instead of an X. 😕

A rare daytime sighting of a character from a 70’s blacklight poster. I mean this in the best possible way.

Mad props! I’m pretty good at recognizing when to stop.
Actually stopping at or near that point?
Not so much, but I’m getting better.

I haven’t seen a Braeburn in the grocery store for years. They were my ‘go to’ commercial apple and now they’ve disappeared entirely.
Shout out to the best apple for pie - still available from local farmers in the Upper Hudson Valley, at least - the Northern Spy!

Try orange mint! I planted it last year and it rapidly became my “go to” mint for cocktails other than Mint Juleps. So versatile.
Fabulous with Lillet Blanc (seltzer optional).

Glorious, but it doesn’t bloom more than a couple of weeks on a Baltimore roof deck.
Love the blooms when they appear each year and the remaining greenery is welcome the rest of the season. (Automated drip irrigation required to keep it alive on a city roof deck in high summer, of course!)

The Re-Humanization of Jade Darcy series by Stephen Goldin. Two books published of what should’ve been a trilogy: Jade Darcy and the Affair of Honor, followed by Jade Darcy and the Zen Pirates.

Thanks! My family were farmers in upstate NY & as a child I loved how the book expanded on my great-grandmothers stories.
Do you know if they lost the farm or did it go to one of the girls? It sounded reasonably prosperous for the times but farming’s no safe bet.

I haven’t revisited the books in decades, but I distantIy remember the family in Farmer Boy being significantly more part of the community and remember more collective efforts (e.g. ice harvesting).
The Wilder family didn’t move west, just sons who wouldn’t inherit.
