I guess Matthew no longer sees himself as a socialist. I recall him standing for the Labour Party. I didn’t realise he’d joined the Tories. He seems to have changed a lot since I knew him when he was doing his A levels and playing table tennis. I thought he had mellowed when I read Bounce.
