This is a senior advisor in Trump's HHS for refugee resettlement. In a Tuesday post about Denver's purported spending on immigrants, he said the city's "at the point of no return" and advised, "Let it burn down."

Reporters Without Borders names Alden Global Capital a 2025 "press freedom predator," along with Putin, Musk, Mohammed bin Salman and other enemies of independent journalism. Alden owns The Denver Post, Daily Camera, Greeley Tribune and other Colorado news outlets.

Among the federal agencies that explicitly blame Democrats for the shutdown, in possible violation of the Hatch Act, is the ostensibly impartial U.S. attorney's office in Colorado.

Dozens of Denver demonstrators turned out in inflatables, like this unicorn for democracy.

This is from a newsletter today. "We won't call for unilateral political disarmament in the face of authoritarianism — or let our country's balance of power be decided not by the voters, but by the will of one political party." Correct.

Good to see @commoncause.org come around to the only rational position on redistricting. Late last month the org opposed redistricting in California in response to Trumpist Republicans in Texas and elsewhere going full authoritarian with their maps. This is from a July 24 newsletter.

We knew Chris Wright was a climate arsonist. But Democratic Sens. Bennet and Hickenlooper eagerly voted to confirm him to Trump's cabinet. Now Wright is part of a project not just to eliminate future climate science but to erase past climate science.

This comes under the NGA leadership of Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat who too often lets his inner MAGA show. This weekend he plans to oversee an NGA meeting that includes appearances by two cabinet members from Trump's fascist administration.

The deepest anger should be reserved not for the tyrant but for the tyrant's enablers. Roberts. Johnson. Bezos. Big Law capitulators. Corporate cowards. Ambassador Pressman has seen up close where their treachery leads.

This chart tells an at-a-glance story about who's getting money from where in the #CO08 race. GOP incumbent Evans earns tons of PAC money. Dem challenger Rutinel attracts lots of grassroots individual donations.

Nice county there, be a shame if something happened to it.

Another example of how grift and corruption is fundamental to MAGA politics. Jeff Small is still listed as a principle on Denver-based 76 Group's website.

Checking in on where Colorado's MAGA wing comes down on Epstein: 100% Trump loyalty.

This from RINO Watch, the anonymous but thinly-veiled mouthpiece for the state GOP's Dave Williams extremist faction.

Count me a fan of this increasingly Manichean state of politics, since at least extremists have stopped troubling themselves with pretense as they broadcast the qualities that will make it easy for history to know on which side of the ledger they belong.

There are any number of smart commenters criticizing the mega-bill in Congress, yet Gov. Polis chooses to retweet the Nazi-saluting, MAGA funding, blood-on-his-hands DOGE brigand.

Historians, help me out. Has there been a clearer high-level instance of treason during hostilities since the Civil War than Trump collaborating with the enemy to attack a U.S. position?

McMahon is a top lieutenant of the kleptocratic autocracy being established in D.C. To engage with her in a friendly setting such as a panel discussion is to help legitimize the demolition of constitutional order. Gov. Jared Polis chose to engage with her.

Rep. Lauren Boebert offered tacit support for Trump unilaterally going to war with Iran, but when Biden was president she was against bombing countries in the Middle East and presidents neglecting to seek war authorization from Congress.
