We have sent formal letters to several textile factories/ shops (local and international) to ask for blanket donations for our organisation, but we haven't heard back from any of them yet.

1000 rand is about £40 sterling / $55 US / 48€ and buys enough food for 20 people for a week. They have 39 people living in the safehouse, some of whom I'm pretty sure are children.
Small donations genuinely will make a big difference here due to the currency differences.
