With the work in my union, I had the pleasure of meeting Lily Madigan, the first open trans woman in Labour, she said it wasn't as topical to hate trans people even in 2017. (The sentiments still existed but it wasn't so organised.) It was not-so once, and can be again.

It's a similar thing here in the UK. I remember seeing a thing that the reason we are hated is because people seeing us thrive shows that they can live outside the cisheteronormative patriarchal system too. We can still signal to the next gen that we're not going away
