Well stated. In his piece on Jan 22 he does seem to say that we ourselves eroded secularism before it reached this state. So while he would not be talking about himself, but does probably finally acknowledge that secularism was weakening by the actions of the elite even before BJP got this strong.

Sitting at my desk opening my copy. Wondering why so many people happily repudiated their own constitution. It’s going to be a long fight.
