I don't disagree with you. The madness of the plot does not cancel out the overall enjoyment! I mean was it an intriguing, but completely bonkers plotline? Yes. Was it gloriously addictive and entertaining? Hell yes!!

I'm now thinking up alternative endings including the daughter skillfully playing both sides and taking out everyone including DDK, then riding off into the sunset with Kim Ji-hoon, her fellow psychopath-in-arms, in the car boot (trunk for my US friends!) 😂...

and other than changing the setting and the ethnicity of the main characters, it looks like it's remained faithful to the original text.

It was exactly that! Hence the predictability of it all. You didn't have the sharp lefts that have you questioning everything, that you get in kdrama. Also, it is based on a graphic novel which is set in the West

No it was left open, presumably for a potential S2. But wherever they go next with the story/plot is gonna be a mess in a way that I don't care for. If the writing/character development had been better, then it could have worked, maybe, but there wasn't enough episodes for that to happen.

I hear you on that! I'm hoping that they develop the characters a bit more especially Kim Tae-hee as she seems woefully underwritten so far, and that's a huge waste! And I'm not massively convinced by Piper Perabo's character yet but again we'll see!

I'm only on episode 3 and I'm enjoying it so far (violence notwithstanding), but it's early days so I will see how I get on ☺️

I really liked this drama too! It was so cute and the subject matter handled really well. Totally agree with you re the side characters, they were kinda unnecessary after a point.
