Saw this on reddit yesterday in the editors subreddit - they were given no master list of effects, low budget and a rushed timeline.
Reddit thread with user Stroom_Dick saying "I worked on this. Throwaway for anonymity. Team was underpaid and rushed on delivery. QC was handled poorly and many mistakes made it through apparently. I feel terrible seeing these things missed because they could have easily been fixed with more time." User esboardnewb responds " are you in this type of 'remaster' work? Maybe a stupid question but why would you get a master without the VFX shots baked in? Are they sending you original reels to conform onto 4k?" User Stoom_Dick responds "Only the raw film was provided. No VFX masters. No lists/info were provided either so all the VFX had to manually spot checked and flagged and handled. Also Mad Men has a TON of VFX. You would be blown away. Every episode has multiple split screen takes, removed smudges from walls, and removed crew from reflections and blocking like this issue."
