This message was recorded in Gorey, Co. Wexford where Mary spoke at an International Working Women's Day event on the role working class women play in the struggle against oppression and exploitation.

Mary was one of the women working in Dunnes Stores who went on strike in 1984 for the right to refuse to handle goods from apartheid South Africa, and has remained a staunch advocate for international justice since.

Both QUB and Glasgow University must act now to divest completely from war-profiteers and give justice to their students!

The students top demands are:

1. Immediate and unconditional divestment from arms companies

2. The cutting of research ties to arms companies

Glasgow University also has millions tied up with the arms manufacturers and warmongers profiting off of militarism and the genocide in Palestine, and has partnerships with the likes of Thales, BAE Systems, and Lockheed Martin.

Students at Glasgow University occupied part of their university and renamed it to the Dar Ahmad Manasra Building to raise awareness of the 23 year old Ahmad Manasra who has been imprisoned since the age of 13, and has been in solitary confinement since 2022.
