The demand for the "safe have" asset gold drove prices of the yellow metal to increase by 50% this year (in USD). The last time this happened was during the OPEC oil price shock when Americans had to face gas shortages.

The gold price keeps telling us that Donnie boy taking a wrecking ball to the liberal, global world order, that was underpinned by free trade, is most certainly working. Notice how the gold price was flat during the Biden years. Almost doubled since then.

My old fashioned stance is that computer science should be about the science, not chasing the latest shiny trend. For instance analysis and design of algorithms or modeling finite state machines will always remain relevant.
Feel very sympathetic towards this article 🧪

Very unfortunate automatic labeling on this post. Yes, the photo is graphic and a trigger warning may be a good idea, but "self-harm" is just vertigo inducing.

Just a heads up: Your SSL certificate for your site apparently expired (sometimes happens when auto-renewal fails).

Correction: The only somewhat correct thing. "LLMs are neural nets, like brains." is like saying that rocks are like planets. Claude.AI did not take kindly to it.

From the comment's on Scott's blog I always gathered that Greg had a nice sense of humor. Beats these kind of figures.

Pairing electronics with photonics has been @psiquantum.bsky.social focus for a long time, obviously the more you can integrate on the same chip the better. So this work I would think to be quite relevant to them. It's just not the world's first as claimed in this headline.

🧪⚛️ Frustrating to see misleading headlines from university press departments.
@psiquantum.bsky.social has been integrating photonics and electronics on the same chip for quite some time. In fact their work is listed in the references of the underlying publication.

Did you maybe inadvertently subscribe to a moderation list in the past?
I apply many to my feed (-> screenshot) but I don't get that particular label either.
