It's so fucking convenient that they get to "fear for their lives" anytime they want to absolve themselves of anything and when we actually fear for our lives because of them and do anything a scared person would do it's justification for our death.

People are skeptical about the decline in numbers of people who read books in the U.S. but you only need to talk with high schoolers to see that it's not overblown. It's part of the reason that the revival of zines is important IMO because they make reading and writing less daunting.

It's a difficult challenge to write useful alt-text for comics, particularly compositions that do things mine do - but I do quite enjoy it. Did this in full for the 2-page comic I made as foreword to book on teaching Unflattening (forthcoming fall!) & describing just this quintet of panels, wowza!
Top of the page is divided into 5 panels as follows, first 2 are taller vertical panels covering half width of page – with a 1/4 circular hole cut from the bottom of the second one (to be explained later). The next three panels also have this missing quarter circle, but they are designed as if ruled off by a clock hand, first with its diagonal right border ending at 1 o’clock, the next at 2 (this panel encompasses the upper right corner of the page), and third at 3 – squaring off the trio of panels. SKIPPED Descriptions of Panels 1 and 2 here, because I was way over character count. Grrrrr. Moving on to panel 3... Panel 3, caption reads: “Answers are endpoints, questions are springboards.” We see in panel 3 dots that lead to squiggles spinning out from them breaking into panel 3, where the squiggles now start to become question marks (the background has also shifted from black drawings on white in panel 3 to white on black for 4 – which suggests looking up at the stars in the night sky). Captions over 4 read, “Rupturing existing boundaries and opening new pathways,” which leads directly into panel 5, and the question marks are transforming into simplified footprints, which march (black on white now) down through the panel following the caption, which reads: “To find your own way.” The reading direction now zigs back from the far right of the page back toward the left following the path of these foot prints. The circle cut through the top panels has the look of light emanating from its top like a spotlight illuminating below it Unflattening the book, sitting prominently on a pedestal as if on display in a museum. The caption immediately to its right has a drawing of hands clapping leaning out of it and reads: “So, while a book praising my work would be, umm, flattering,”
