Really thought provoking!
I was very kindly offered a chance to discuss my Frauchiger-Renner paper on the Quantum Frontiers blog! I attempt to situate the work, focusing on the philosophical motivations/commitments implicit in Wigner's Friend and the FR paradox. Cameo by another, unrelated obsession of mine at the end!

I've spent some time thinking about this now, and I think that what Frauchiger-Renner shows us can be summed up as "QM doesn't allow the combination of inferences corresponding to multiple cuts through a circuit". Here's my attempt at formalizing this: arxiv.org/abs/2503.00966

After a parade of unfortunate life events last year, I am experiencing some financial stress in the near term. If you know of any side consulting opportunities (that are not conflict of interest) that I might be a good fit for, I'd love to hear about them!

Subspace Correction for Constraints
We demonstrate that it is possible to construct operators that stabilize the constraint-satisfying subspaces of computational problems in their Ising representations. We provide an explicit recipe to

Just here to say that I am personally embarrassed by the poor decisions, made by a small number of people behind closed doors, in the past few days that undermine the good work of so many great scientists. I hope the scientists aren't associated with the corruption

My grandma identifies as Taino and having the day off for #IndigenousPeoplesDay is the perfect excuse to deep dive into lost culture, get angry, and look for ways to integrate the past with present.

Oh my god this analogy is perfect
Trying to understand new condensed matter concepts is like getting a box of trinkets from your grandparents that hasn't been touched in 50+ years. Is there anything good in there? Only about 25 people know. You're not one of them and neither are your grandparents.

Tomorrow I'm giving the last talk of the day in QC for Natural Sciences. It's about constrained problems but ignore the abstract. I'll instead be showing off a brand new algorithm for exact distribution preparation in constrained spaces.

My least favorite thing about bluesky is that when someone you follow ends up involved in drama in a post thread, RIP your feed

one of the most poorly designed products I've ever used lol. I have to rotate the pad 180° for every new note, i cant pull a note off with one hand, and it is _Game Over_ if it falls off the table (or I drop it)

I figured out that I'm in The Bad Place because as of recent I need to do 2FA --> forgot password --> forgot username?? --> forgot password --> text me a code! --> 2FA --> 2FA for password manager --> suspicious login 2FA again --> ??? on literally ever site I go to, every single time
