Using that thought process, the fact that Gengar has one entry and other things alluding/outright stating it was once a #Pokemon /human -combined with the fact other entries say it just wants a friend and seeks out warmth- could be used to argue that in its stage it now remembers it's life. (13/?)

You could just straight up headcanon that the reincarnation inconsistency STARTS with Gastly. You could tell me a theory that Gastly has little to no memory of its previous life, and is basically just a mischievous little wisp in its stage. I'd probably believe you. (12/?) #pokemon

Like even in Gengar's line and them evolving from Haunter there's more strings connecting the possibility of Haunter evolving into Gengar, than there is Shuppet into Banette. Haunter goes up to people and saps their life force. Giving you an opening for the evolution. (9/?) #pokemon

Banette is one of my favorite #Pokemon because of the story tied to it. I adore it to pieces, and to me it not being a standalone, and having pre evolution that doesn't personally have much depth to it, seems like an injustice and an oversight. (8/?)

The connection, to me at least, between Shuppet and Banette seems unfortunately like an after thought on GameFreak's part. Like the only possibility I can think of tying the two together has Shuppet possess a toy, or the prior issues of Banette being able to come about by itself. (7/?) #pokemon
