Can we just talk about how fucking insane this is? This is the 5th/Madison Midtown Station for Ballard Link Extension. The preferred alternative doesn't have this station, so we're fighting an uphill battle just to even have a Midtown Station. #soundtransit #ballard #seattle #midtown #chinatown

The West Seattle & Ballard Link Extensions map given to voters for ST3. This was the base model, everything subject to change, but not drastically. ST3 passed in 2016 and that includes what is on this map. A map showing the Chinatown station (Seattle's largest transit hub). There are four alignments shown. The first alignment (on the top) is the 4th Avenue Deep/Shallow alternatives. The second alignment is gray and hard to see because this is the current station and alignment that is open today. The third and fourth alignments are touching each other, the light green is the representative alignment shown in the first picture, and the darker alignment is a very similar 5th Avenue Shallow alternative. The 2 additional alternatives (not existing, and not the representative) are reasonable to study and are seen as well within the scope of the project. Three maps side by side, each showing the current line (blue), and a different version of the future line through downtown Seattle (green). The version on the left shows the representative alignment with a Midtown Station at 5th & Madison. The version in the middle shows a First Hill alternative with a Midtown / First Hill Station at 8th & Madison. The version on the right shows a First Hill alternative with a First Hill Station at Boren & Madison. Despite being very popular, and despite a First Hill Station being unfairly cut from the original line, these First Hill alternatives were cut from Ballard Link Extension for being "outside the project scope". A map showing the disastrous North/South alternative in the International District and Downtown Seattle (green), and how it connects (or doesn't connect) to the current line (blue/pink). As it says at the top, there is no Midtown Station. The "Chinatown" station is so far away from the current transit hub that it is literally closer to Stadium Station. Nobody likes this alternative, and yet somehow this *is* within the project scope. Hypocrisy.

Stations do show real-time arrivals. There aren’t any announcements yet, but the screens do show snippets of a service alert and of an arrival message. Very buggy but it’s expected as this is a test. Excited to see it working. Pictures below. #tacoma #soundtransit #link #transit #tech #pims

The signs are still not showing realtime arrivals. I wish they’d at least show it with the scheduled departure times, especially because the T Line is almost always on time.

Pinehurst Station receives fully positive responses across the board and is overall ranked as most people’s number 1 choice. Pinehurst/130th Station mostly receives positive feedback and is ranked as most people’s number 2 choice. There are disagreements about redundancy and most people say it is not a brief / easy-to-remember name. Pinehurst/Haller Lake Station receives very mixed feedback. Mixed responses over whether it is geographically appropriate / accurate, intuitive, and overall feedback. Negative responses over being brief / easy-to-remember. North Seattle/130th receives more negative feedback. Mixed responses over whether it is geographically appropriate, intuitive, and overall feedback was mixed, though many people had said it is too broad and could be confused with Northgate. Negative responses over avoiding redundancy, being geographically accurate, and being brief / easy to remember.

Usually don’t make posts like this but I am a gamer so I of course play lots of different bus and train simulators.
Just wanted to call out VAMOS Bus Simulator for having an extremely toxic and sexist community.

A higher-up responds to someone calling out the use of the n word by saying everything is PG-13, I reply and note that the server rules do not allow this, another higher-up tells me to “shut the fuck up”, and someone reacts with the nerd emoji. Someone responded to something I said and insisted I was being pushy, so I asked them to stop looking for an argument with me, and then somebody comes in and says “hey there’s a girl in here”, and then after realizing there are in fact TWO girls in here he reply pings me, and pings someone else telling them to “get with this girl too”. I opened a support ticket to report the sexism and disregard for rules, but of course the people who respond to tickets are the people who are responsible for this chaos, the first higher-up doesn’t see my issue when presented with blatant sexism (of the most humiliating kind, I might add). Ticket text continued in next image. Discord text. Continuation of last image. Higher-up claims “telling someone to shut up isn’t breaking a rule”, I point out that it, in fact, actually is. He instantly replies simply “It isn’t” rather than taking a look for himself, and I decide to leave since there’s just no point. I unfortunately didn’t grab a screenshot of the rules on the way out but it was just typical “no flame wars, be nice” etc which obviously if someone isn’t being nice then they are breaking the rules.
