May I suggest Guy Gavriel Kay's fantastic trilogy "The Fionovar Tapestry" to get that Tolkien high again. As bright and beautiful as Donaldson is dark and depressing. Kay's prose is powerful and poetic. The trilogy is paradoxically unique yet familiar. Then read everything else Kay has written.

If you haven't read Donaldson's Mordant's Need (The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through) then you are missing out on a great read. A unique take on the use, and cost, of Magic.

Yes to all of the above, but may I add: be aware of the agitators, those who try to invite violence; if anyone throws something at the "authorities" 🙄, don't take the bait. Be kind, but be firm, tell them this is a peaceful protest against authoritarianism, not a riot.

Embrace it. You have 5 hours of uninterrupted time: no phone calls, visitors, telemarketers, Jehova's Witnesses, etc. It's a most peaceful and quiet time.
