"Have you not been grilled about our relationship—or lack thereof? I think I've heard everyone's opinions about it by now." O-oh… has it been that obvious? Laurent sips his water, unsure of how to respond. Of course it has, who am I kidding… They talk a bit about the 'situation' their neighbors put them in, but Laurent muddled through the conversation, unable to focus. Eventually, though, a sudden feeling of melancholy washes over him. But why does everyone care… He sets the empty glass down and stares at it. "I've been here a long time, and everyone here—you, too—has been so nice to me. But I don't get why… I'm not good at talking to people. I usually seem… unfriendly." "Seems you're doing a fine job of talking right now. I don't think it's the alcohol, either." Gale gives him a soft, genuine smile. "People are nice to people they like, that's all. You are quite likable—even if sometimes the way you say things aren't perfect—and doesn't hurt that you're handsome to boot."

"Laurent… how did you manage to do this?" Gale coughs as he fans dark smoke out of the back of the diner. "All you were doing was mixing the batter…" "I didn't know the stovetop would be hot…" Gale tries to sigh, but coughs again after breathing in more of the smoke. "I was making a glaze! You can't do that with a cold burner. Did you really put the whole bundle of lavender on top of it!?" "…Maybe…" …I might strangle this man. Laurent had mentioned to Gale that he didn't cook a few times, but he thought it was only due to a lack of experience. As it turned out, the florist was the most accident-prone cook he'd met in his life.

Kris nods, his serious expression cracking a bit as he gives Laurent a peck on the cheek. "Go, we'll take care of things out here."

This man… if only I could stab him. Or poison him. Or whatever. Thancred has always been the most difficult of his customers—demanding, loud, nosy. The type to throw a fit if there isn't any meat to be seen on the menu, or to badger the chef about his personal life if he's bored. "Hasn't anyone told you not to needle the person making your food?" Y'shtola side-eyes Thancred over her cup with an amused look. "Who knows what might end up in your next order." Thancred laughs just a little too loudly. "Come on now, Gale is a good man! He'd never do such a thing. Right?" Gale answers his question with a smile, silently taking Thancred's empty plate to the back. "…W-wait! Gale, please don't put anything weird in my food tomorrow—"
