to clarify the writing is not necessarily at fault here, just trying to explain why i think so many people end up complaining about her arc. sorry for the long rant omfg i just wanted to say smth somewhere, and i’m fully open to more discussion

her initial focus ep being less serious then her more serious development occuring afterwards in conjunction with everything else is what negatively affects the audience’s perception of her. ep 8 was a preemptive framing that undermined the rest of her development

i fully comprehend her arc and what the writers were going for, but it’s def overshadowed by other plot points and feels less weighty/hits less as a result. though that’s just a normal tradeoff of having to develop 5 characters simultaneously.

tbh i think ep 8 being more lighthearted and comedic than everything before it kind of affected people’s perception of umiri going forward. but i liked her development afterwards, though i felt that in execution it was a bit underwhelming
