Political strategist and occasional commentator. New here.
Without needing any further information, in Trump’s America you can guess with 100% accuracy who will be supported by elected officials and government institutions purely by looking at photos of the two parties and picking the person who looks more MAGA in-group.

I agree with your point overall, but staggered senate elections isn’t counter majoritarian. It does mean that there probably needs to be sustained support over multiple election cycles if you want to replace enough senators to achieve some things you can’t now but that’s not counter majoritarian.

100% agree. What voting trend data over the last 10 years in US politics suggests to these “commentators” that all the American people really want is another moderate?

OpenAI went from “we will change humanity” to “we sell you toilet paper from Walmart ” real fast

The Republican healthcare strategy is literally just year after year telling the public they totally will release their amazing plan soon but never actually doing it.

If I were you I'd get on the next flight out of the country from your airport, wherever that may be, and book your final destination tickets from there. Keep the world updated that you're safe ❤️

I guess his next step is actually starting to make the arrests. Perhaps via the insurrection act or perhaps its you or Mayor Johnson “will be investigated for mortgage fraud” just like Lisa Cook.

What’s wild to me is that this tactic is clearly an effective one for the Republicans. No one in a position to call them out on it in real time actually does so.

Ah yes, we all know that businesses are totally going to pass on these savings to consumers!

Jason Stanley’s decision earlier this year to leave Yale to accept a professorship in Canada is already validated.

Trump and Miller definitely intend to copy the Erdogan playbook of arresting opposition party rising political stars before they become too big of a national threat.

If there is one thing the American mainstream media simply cannot resist, it’s a “Relax, the Libs are overreacting again!” take that presents a wildly disingenuous version of what is actually going on in MAGA land to launder the Right and chide “the Left” for being hysterical.

I’d love to see the data on how much money the NYTimes makes in referral payouts from Amazon for posting content like this.

When will more people understand that people like Candace Owens are the new “mainstream media” - she’s not some fringe figure that can be isolated (as much as I like to wish she was fringe).

The American people don’t care about any of that - the very smart Democrats in charge of messaging know that a policy wonk debate about health care subsidies is the best possible approach right now. /s

Agreed, fascinating to see political actors co-opt the language of journalism. Perhaps a reflection that they see their social media accounts as replacing the role they once had to rely on journalists to do and a signal to loyal media outlets on how they want this policy to be framed.

Trump treating furloughed government workers the way he has always treated his Trump Tower building developers and subcontractors.

Is it really a “warning” if you wait until after he’s already confirmed and it’s too late for anyone to stop it?

Deference to whatever Trump says is the only Republican policy position in 2025.
