yes, that seems to be the thing - i.e. it's selects text but it's not visible, "works" in Firefox as well

I couldn't figure the reason but it doesn't work for me and also in dev tools console I see "Uncaught Error: Minified React error #418; visit reactjs.org/docs/error-d... for the full message..."

it's odd that the blogpost talking about "tools" disables text selection in Chrome, i.e. it looks to me that it breaks a tool...
