During playtests of my game, I noticed that with the hook it was PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to hit the players—so now it’s a 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗸🧲! It pulls nearby players toward itself, making it much more accessible.

The latest two gadgets in my game:

𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗲🕳️ (aka “the cart”) – it collects resources and trails them behind the player.
𝗗𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗳⛓️ – you have to beat it before you can pick it up. It chains the player to itself and deals minor damage.

How does killing players help you hit your quota in my game? By 🔒𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴🔓 their capsules! After an enemy dies, any player can hack its capsule through a mini-game whose difficulty gradually decreases— but if you step away, the difficulty resets to its original level.

Early playtests showed it was tough to find gadgets & weapons on a large map. So meet the 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿📡! It scans the area around you and shows the distance to an object (but not its exact location). Every player has it from the start, but for balance, it costs 1 crystal per use.

Spent all week optimizing my game. Loading is WAY faster now, and even with a massive world size there’s no more lag. Still getting some stutters at the start of flight, so there’s plenty left to work on.

A short post for today about a gadget — the 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗺🌀! When the player plants a seed and then activates it, one head grabs the player, the other grabs the seed — and the worm spits the player out at the seed’s location.

I’ve just added dynamic 💡𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴💡 to my game! The toughest challenge was manually generating real‑time shadows for the walls, but it’s now working!

The most infuriating gadget in my game is the 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘅 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮. True to its name, if a player finds it, they suddenly get a shot at victory. While it’s charging, the other players must destroy it — or everyone except its owner will die.

Here are 2 more gadgets: Dash and Mine!

The 𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗵👻 lets you quickly dash through space and evade attacks.
The 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲💥 can be used to set traps or block pathways during an escape.

The latest feature in my game is gadgets! Today, I’m showing off the Radish and the Bubble.

The 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗵❄️ cools the player, letting them sprint without overheating.
The 𝗕𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲🛡️ grants a temporary shield — if you activate it just before taking damage, it parries incoming attack

Finally, I've added ore usage! Triangles ▲ are used for buying upgrades and completing the quota (more on that in the next post), while Crystals ⚪ are used to recharge the weapon

Implemented ore and weapon generation. Ore is generated during world creation, while the number of weapons is determined by the number of players. Thus they are created when players approach an asteroid.

Asteroid generation time has been significantly reduced.

I haven't been posting devlogs for a while, so I've decided to start doing so more frequently using GIFs.

To begin with, I created a parallax background for the space. In fact, it simply moves behind the player.
