I used to think her dialogue was brought of self-hatred, or appeasement to the Orlesian nobility, but she's seemed to be the exact opposite of what I initially thought. In that regard, I really liked that I played DA:I first, went through the series, and came back.

Lack of freedom that mages have over their own autonomy, how easily swayed their magic can be if not honed and controlled. As offputting as her realism may be, she truly cares about the wellbeing of everybody, especially mages.
