I think the hostages gave an excuse to do something that was going to happen anyway. Isreal is now doing quickly what it was previously doing slowly with sanctions. The result was always going to be genocide. It sucks that the holocaust didn't teach mercy for those that are different.

The point of many things in the universe seems to be prolonging existence or reproducing to prolong existence. People, protazoa, stars, all die and reproduce, albeit in very different ways. But it is a common theme. Perhaps our purpose is to evolve to the state where we can reproduce universes.

You really have to love a president who shows the dignity and grace to let bygones be bygones on widely celebrated holidays, and simply wish everyone peace and prosperity without bringing any politics into their message of well wishing.
