In their defense, it's pretty surprising to see another water dragon this far inland.

Eudora's really nice (I swear) but her enthusiasm can come across far more intensely than intended.

Happy to finally announce the creation of a new #dragon OC, Eudora!
She's a water dragon, with design and art by @cookiehalo.bsky.social to fit into her world setting.

23. Mouthwashing

Incredibly unsettling and well written game. The main pull is piecing together details from the broken timeline and feeling the mounting dread as you realize how terrible the situation presented in the game really is.
I will warn it has incredibly grim themes and story elements

22. Death Stranding

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this game as much as I did. There is some real uniqueness from a game majorly about delivering packages. Kojima's particular brand of eccentricism comes through loud and clear and despite this, there are some really moving performances from the cast.

21. Age of Empires II

This game was probably something that fostered my early interest in history. Playing this game on my dad's old laptop left me so very fascinated by all the historical events depicted in each of the campaigns. All the sound effects have been burned into my brain at this point.

20. NieR Replicant

Big fan of Yoko Taro's work as a director. This game especially hits very hard. I am so very fond of all the main characters and their relationship with each other. The story of this one also goes in some really interesting and thought-provoking directions.

19. Halo: Combat Evolved

A childhood favorite of mine. I spent so many hours just running through the campaign and messing around however I could. The others in the trilogy are much better, but this one has a lot of sentimentality to me.

18. Resident Evil 4

Another classic in the survival horror genre. This one takes on a much more campy, actiony tone than the previous installments to great effect. Leon is so charming and enjoyable as he roundhouse kicks and suplexes pitchfork wielding villagers. So much fun

17. Return of the Obra Dinn

A real unique premise for a game. There's something so satisfying about identifying and discovering the fates of all the people on board the ship. It's a real enjoyable mystery game with a lot of thought put into it.

16. Silent Hill 2

Can you believe copies of this go for hundreds of dollars? It's such a shame because more people should get the chance to play it. This game has such a moody, oppressive atmosphere it bleeds into everything. James Sunderland is such an interesting character to discuss too.

15. Undertale

A hilarious and gripping experience that does so much with gameplay systems and conventions. Full of colorful characters and memorable moments, it's a must-play in my book.

14. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

I bounced off this game a couple times before I finally "got it". Once I did, I was absorbed in the world they built. Everything about the setting makes it far from a standard fantasy fare. I like it more than Skyrim even.

13. Cultist Simulator

This game has an excellent mood around it. Even though it's mostly card-based gameplay, there is so much character within the writing and worldbuilding. I find it a very enjoyable game to play on long trips.

12. Hotline Miami

Ultraviolent, fast-paced and stylish. This game is so awesome even just thinking about it makes me want to boot it up again.

11. Katamari Damacy

A unique and quirky game about rolling things up into a great big ball. It manages to be incredibly satisfying while also having a fair bit of challenge to it. Soundtrack is still one of the best.

10. Devil May Cry 3

A really charming game. It bears a level of hammy over-the-top and in-your-face attitude that cannot be matched. There is a lot of complex and satisfying gameplay that makes every encounter a real blast to go through, and the characters are still some of my favorites.

9. System Shock 2

You can definitely feel how Bioshock came directly from this one's loins. I really love the body horror and concepts in this one, the RPG elements are fun for replayability, and of course, SHODAN is probably one of the best evil AI characters ever.

8. Frostpunk

Great game with an absolute banger of a soundtrack. It's an excellent post-apocalyptic city builder with a fun aesthetic and some fun (harrowing more like) morality questions.
October 30, 2024 at 4:42 AM
7. Disco Elysium

One of the best to ever do it. Somehow this game manages to be so incredibly funny, while having some of the most moving and heart-wrenching scenes within it. The writing is second to none and the characters are so wonderfully memorable.

6. Civilization VI

It's a classic; and a time vampire. I spent far too many hours just clicking 'next turn' without saying or doing much else. It is a lot of fun using it as a jumping-off point to learn more historical figures and cultures as well.
