Krewe du Vieux’s floats were themed “revolting” this year, and boy did they hit the mark. One thing we know how to do in New Orleans is create joy and laughter during even the hardest times.

With historic snow in New Orleans (tied with most from 130 years ago!), I couldn’t ignore the call to stroll through our historic French Quarter. First time I’ve ever seen Cafe du Monde closed.

Baby activist me on the far left. This was the training for the Equality Ride, a campaign modeled after the Freedom Rides where we used civil disobedience to pressure colleges that banned LGBTQ students. We even got to have a training with Freedom Rider John Lewis. It was a life changing experience.

One of the great joys of aging is getting to have old friends. Elli was part of the first intentional household / community I helped create, a lovely abode in Tallahassee full of music, arts, and activism. Almost 20 years later, we are as close as ever, and vacationing in style!

I’ve got the privilege right now of acting as the interim Station Manager for WHIV 102.3FM, a community radio focused on human rights and social justice here in New Orleans. This past Friday was their 10th anniversary, and this amazing group has been at it that whole decade!

We got some coverage for the New Orleans Pride Center’s LGBTQ+ youth programs in the local paper! This has been one of our core priorities starting up this year and so proud to see them really take off. We know it sure ain’t getting any easier to be young and queer or trans in Louisiana!

When you’re working for LGBTQ+ community and equality you just never know who will show up…

This is my Pansy, where we used to live on the coast of Bolinas. We lived the tiny house life, but this view just a hundred feet from that tiny house made it sooooo worth it. Pansy didn’t mind the easy beach access either.

What the story behind this photo? This is the second line of the grand opening of the New Orleans Pride Center. It was a day full of rainbows and glitter, as more than 300 community members celebrated the LGBTQ community of New Orleans by dancing and laughing down the streets. What a day!
