the issue with the avs was never that he was behind cale makar??? it was that he was behind devon toews and josh manson and sam girard. he would have realistically PEAKED as a second pair dman there, but he’s literally been on the sabres top pair all year

if it was something THEY were doing wrong, why is it only a problem now? being outmanned and conditioning are two completely separate issues imo. that and ruff regulates shift lengths anyways to try to prevent guys from staying out too long and getting tired. and he’s saying they’re still tired?

what i want to know is why this perceived “lack of conditioning” is only becoming an issue now? midway through the season, youngest team in the league, and most of the players spend their summers at the worlds tearing it up, winning, and scoring.

second half of the back to back, with travel, and they used their last full off day TO travel. their conditioning is not going to better if they don’t get any rest (and ruff already said earlier this year he needs to re-evaluate the intensity and frequency of his practices to see if it’s too much)
