Always glad to welcome new bollards, especially close to a school. Go to work, lads!

I bought this darling in the 70s. After decades of use it was supplanted by more modern, German luggage, and has lived in the cellar ever since. Farewell, Karrimor!

Bluechâtel. Full marks for the name, taste is 4/10, higher if you like blue cheese made from cows' milk.

Happy Yorkshire Day, Switzerland!

The date is that of the Battle of Minden, fought in 1759 when Anglo-Prussian armies defeated France. Troops from Yorkshire took part.

This is the best gin I know. Hint of cassis, coriander, cardamom. Boudier also makes cassis and other liqueurs. No ice, no lemon. Just the taste.

I got my typewriter back from repair today. Here’s a picture. It was made in the year of my birth, 1955.

I bought the same Olivetti model earlier this year that I borrowed from my parents when I went to university (1973). When it arrived I checked the serial number and it was made in the year I was born.

This is the gin. Drink it with a delicate tonic, Fentiman‘s or Fever Tree Mediterranean, which will not obliterate the slight taste of cassis. When I told my father I was drinking French gin he basically exploded, but forgive him, he‘s 95.

Rainy day lake traffic.

My new favourite gin, thanks to the sales guy at Nicolas. Delicate echoes of cassis. Needs a more subtle tonic than Schweppes
