Great turnout of a few hundred for #NoKings in Porto today!

I'm not posting crowd photos out of concern for people's privacy, but I'm grateful that in Portugal it is safe for us to exercise our freedom of speech.

Thinking of our friends and loved ones taking the risk to speak out in the US today.

As I often say, in Portugal the Caminho de Santiago is like a plate of spaghetti thrown on the ground.

Left or right? Just keep the ocean on your left and eventually you'll get there.

On Wednesday our feet were itching so we did a mini caminho up the coast from Póvoa to Apúlia.

It was a nice mix of oceanfront and some stretches inland of the dunes where we got to enjoy the trees and wildflowers.

The condos under construction near our house have a large advertising banner with this CGI rendering of a hypothetical apartment. I'm fascinated with the oddly proportioned books on the shelves. I really want to shake the hand of the designer who snuck in the volume "STATIC MONOCULTURE".

This was the most complicated patch I've made and used almost all my cables. Trying to document what I did was quite an exercise!

I found some new tricks on the Grandmother and Pam's which I'm going to reuse. There's room for improvement with Plaits.

A few months back, one of my favorite murals in Porto was replaced. I like the new one too, but I wonder what prompted the change?

Hoping to waste less time and emotional energy on social media, I've removed social apps from my phone.

Last time I tried that, I just wound up logging into the web versions.

It reminds me of the Frog and Toad story in which they try to stop eating so many cookies by putting them on a high shelf 🙂

It tends to have conservative pro-gun associations but also commonly gets detourned for other purposes. My favorite is this pro-choice t-shirt sold to raise funds for Planned Parenthood.

It's not just that these morons can't be bothered to spell the name of another country correctly in an official diplomatic announcement.

It's also that these big believers in traditional education don't remember from elementary school music class that "Columbia" with a U means the USA.
