bad news: For the first time in a while, you're going to have to wait a full year between #nbpy events

Good news: WE'RE COMING BACK! April 25th and 26th, 2026, at our favorite ranch just south of Petaluma. See you there!

All "workarounds" in your code are potential Chesterton's fences. Comment them well or the next guy or gal will tear them down.

This tweet as much a "note to self" as unsolicited advice.

I got nersniped into proposing a potential afternoon/evening of Takes, to be held somewhere in the Bay Area, sometime in August.

One thing that crystalized to me this #pyconus is that I judge my conferences by the amount of meaningful social interactions. There's always more ppl that I want to hang out with than I end up, especially given that I had some kind of vocal chord injury and didn’t take advantage of all nights 1/7

I tried the impossible task of condensing my #pyconus experience into a blog post... I did not succeed... After posting it and re-reading it, I thought of at least half a dozen more interactions that I wished to highlight, and the more I sit with it, the more I realize that my attempt was […]

Turns out some old (and new) friends were feeling the same way, so we got a crew together from the Old Days and we spun up a collective, got fiscal hosting with Raft Foundation (badasses!), and spent a couple of months building processes and testing ways to work and things to make, and now we're […]

I gave a lightning talk at #pyconus titled ORM? OMG!!, and also hosted an open space on the topic of ORMs which was really good! My lightning talk highlighted a tool called Advanced Alchemy (a wrapper around SQLAlchemy), and I had great conversations throughout the conference on the topic […]

In case you needed a playbook for responding to would-be dictators. From the NYT:

"The funny thing is that there’s a playbook for overturning autocrats. It was written here in America, by a rumpled political scientist I knew named Gene Sharp. While little known in the United States before his […]

Btw Pantheon is finally out on Netflix. I think it’s one of the best animated series / best sci-fi series (animated and not). It revolves around the concept of ‘UI’ (uploaded intelligence) which feels like a parallel to AI. The themes it takes on are super smart. Very compelling. We binged it […]

Too much good material in this Marshall Project keynote. I got a chance to chat with them on Friday (and plugged @civicband, I'm sure you'll hear about them, @phildini), but I'll still be going back to this talk after the conference. Thank you, @pycon! #pyconus
