It's always about oil. US production is plateauing and set to decline. "Energy dominance" is not just US domestic production. It is also US oil field services and refining industry. Venezuela is next big opportunity. We all saw this play out in Iraq.

Why does Seattle have a sister-city relationship with a Be'er Sheva which is a product of the Nakba? Maybe we should have a sister-city relationship with Hebron or Rafah as well.

May I offer a suggestion? 15,000 seats, just saying. It would be pretty awesome. Accessible by transit.

Climate Commitment Act effectiveness though is becoming questioned because reporting as required in RCW 70A.65.300 only deals with GHG pollution, i.e. $/ton. Co-benefits such as PM2.5 reduction & clean air health benefits aren't reported. Voters just don't know that CCA funds are being spent wisely.

Harrell is so out-of-touch about how people of modest incomes have to juggle child care.

Seattle is not meeting its statutory goals for GHG reductions (carbon neutral by 2050, Resolution 31312 (2011); 1.5 deg warming, Resolution 31757 (2017)). How should Seattle's OPCD utilize OSE's Climate Portal data in drafting the 20 year comprehensive plan?

US electric bus industry can't "handle that transition", but everyone else in the world can.

No government agency can anticipate 75% inflation (NHCCI) in construction costs. CPI only increased 25% during that time.

should be built where freight slows to a crawl due to grade between Castle Rock & Centralia. Dedicated track here helps both BNSF & Amtrak Cascades operationally.

China leads the world in BEV bus sales with 50% of sales comprising 30,000 units in 2023. In Europe, sales are 13% of total, but 43% of city busses. 1/5th of bus sales were BEV in Canada, Chile, Finland, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal & Sweden. Issue was Proterra not BEVs.

Siemons Airo sets are just like driving an Formula 1 race car on a dirt road. Only as good as what they are riding on. Speed limited to 79 mph due to bad BNSF rail bed. Build more track Washington DOT. @wsdot.wa.gov

Happy Birthday America! This painting in Versailles honors the French military victory at Yorktown which secured American freedom. It should not need to be said that freedom is ensured by being allied to those seeking to overthrow oppression. Merci, bon ami!

BREAKING. Trump is closing down NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory climate research station here in Seattle. This lab is where Richard Feely, an IPCC AR6 author & 2010 Heinz Award recipient, conducted research identifying the extreme risk of ocean acidification on marine food chains.

Amtrak Cascades can give fast & reliable service at 110 mph speeds on existing right-of-way with 200 miles of dedicated track which would give 2.5 hr travel times from Seattle to Portland. As frequent as 14x per day. Key infrastructure project is revised high-speed curve at Point Defiance/Nisqually.
June 21, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Amtrak Cascades service is stuck at less than 50% on-time performance, and yet is still breaking ridership records. Imagine what happens should SEA-PDX be fast and frequent to where one could rely on it. The solution is simple. Build more track to remove conflicts with freight and passenger rail.

You can't study the effect of storm intensity if you don't have the data. Datasets include precipitation in 15 minute and 1 hour increments. The battle over "climate alarmism" has gotten real.

These are datasets used for sea-level rise & storm intensity. One would delete these datasets if one was a wealthy golf course & luxury resort developer living in the paths of a hurricanes. The battle against "climate alarmism" has gone from scrubbing websites to actually denial of its existence.
