The Rio Verde route descends through the mountains downstream, offering hikers stunning views of the Almijara massif and Los Poyos del Pescado cliffs. In addition, some mountain goats are also expected to live in the area. The tour passes by the impressive waterfall of Las Chorreras de los Palos, also known as the Cascada de los Árboles Petrificados, where old tree trunks have been mineralized by limestone. For the more adventurous, canyoning is also practiced on this route, considering it is boiling during the summer and the river does not usually carry much water.
