I am a retired community college psychology professor, an atheist (not anti- religion) and skeptic. I live in Las Vegas and frequently answer questions on Quora. Being a parliamentarian, I believe in democracy.
I have often traveled to other countries. I was never worried about their form of government, because I felt secure that if anything untoward happened, I knew I had the USA at my back. I never thought that I needed to be afraid of our government. Now, I really understand how privileged I was.

I just saw a YouTube video covering parts of American history that I had never learned. If you believe in equality and are anti-racist, I believe you will be angry too. Here is the link to this video, which is part of his Knowing Better series.

See Forrest Valkai’s CSICON presentation on YouTube and here. He dropped his prepared speech. He is a fallible human and showed an object lesson on how to handle things by never losing his cool.

Parliamentary procedure as presented in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised IMHO is the best set of procedural rules to ensure democratic process. That is why I serve organizations to help them have better meetings.
