I hope what's happening is that more of the "sane" members are now declaring independent. This is causing the number to appear to jump when it's the evil just being more concentrated with less members

Yep, as a prior LP at a blue store, the policy is in place partially for making the shoplifters be nervous, sawota couple times. Funny when it does happen. However it's also in place because boomers want their servants bowing to them as they move around.

I remember hearing a couple years ago about the price of games across the market going up.
On one hand inflation and all that.
On the other, they are also selling more and more copies of games. I'm sure there is some economics person who can crunch the numbers and say this might hurt the # of sales
