I’ve been gradually solarising parts of my lawn and replacing with vegetable patch in back and native garden in front. Lawn is waste of water for sure. I’d prefer a good wide path as a fire break over lawn any day

Same. I think where it did come in handy for me was when I was designing my own property with a lot of paddock to fill. Then it helped discipline me and give classmates to discuss ideas with. But the number of great books and sites available means it is readily accessible which is fabulous

Firefighters…. unless in USA you don’t have female fire fighters. I know from experience this summer firefighting how demoralising it is to read ‘firemen’ ‘the boys’ etc all the time
