Horror swims to Sans, who's lying unconscious at the bottom of the shallow sea. He lifts him from under one arm, taking one final look that the humans are not after them, and swims away pulling Sans along the seafloor, among various human trash. There's no anger, only a sad, silent "why?"

Horror takes a moment to catch his breath, then starts hissing and makes his red eye big to intimidate the humans. Sans' front flipper is slowly sinking to the sea in the distance. Horror snaps his jaws at the nearest human's feet, causing them to lunge for safety in terror. Then Horror starts crawling towards the eggs, hissing at the second human who wisely retreats. One of the humans shouts "Es neeme lenilmu, tasaypy es!!" and the third human approaches Horror with a knife, hands shaking. Horror is tying up the egg bag when he notices this, and slaps the knife away. Horror gives one more big hiss, showing his impressive maw and many rows of teeth, and retreats to the sea with the bag. The humans stay at the beach, staring after the mershark who escaped with the eggs.

While Sans is still freaking out, Horror holds Sans' shell and exhales. He growls and supplexes Sans' shell so Sans goes flying with flips and lands face-first to the sea farm from the shore. Horror's right arm cracks and loses a little piece of bone thanks to the immense strain of this move. Sans screams as he goes, but falls silent when hitting his face. One of the humans shouts "Tami tuavit!?!".

There are three hooded and masked humans approaching from the woods to the beach. Who they are matters not as much as why they are here. Sans watches in horror and spirals himself to a panic attack. Sans: no... no no no no *huff* not again! I can't move! *huff* they'll steal my eggs! *huff* they'll take me and...! *huff* help! *huff* help! somebody help me! *huff* *huff* please!! Sans is curling up in fear, but Horror, who has been figuring out what's going on, now approaches Sans' shell. One of the humans has two big buckets, second one has a long rope, third one... we'll see later.

Sans has been crying his eyes out all night, his face is full of runny salt-snot, and he has bags under his eyes. Horror is scritching his head encouragingly. Sans: ... I'm.. so very tired... can't even lift a single flipper... Horror: heh, makes sense. Let's rest for now. Sans: no, you should take the eggs n- They are interrupted and both raise to see who it is. The egg laying continues hours into the night, we see the moon travel across the sky until the last plop of an egg. Sans: ... that was.. the last one... Horror: You're so cool, lasting this long, I can barely do 13. Can't even imagine laying 200 in a row... How are you feeling? Horror has laid sideways in the water, allowing Sans to rest his head on his stomach.

Artistic interpretation of a scene that's _not_ in the C&B VN (anymore):
He kept asking for "uppies". So I gave him "uppies". Nightmare says as he is sipping his coffee with a pinky up and reading the paper. In the ceiling there's a Noir-shaped hole from which said skeleton peeks back down with a smile that misses a tooth. Again! Again! he shouts. Downstairs Killer is doing the skeleton version of pulling his hair and screaming at how his baby has been handled. Cross is also very distraught at what he just witnessed.

#dreammareweek day 3: Darkness and Light

Roots that dig deep for water and nutrients, leaved branches that reach high for sun and bear fruit. Both are just as important, yet one is more cherished.
Dream and Nightmare are sitting on a big root of their tree, kissing. Dream wipes a tear from Nightmare's eye. They both have wings of purple and orange colouring, Nightmare's are bare skeleton ones, like the roots behind him, Dream's are full of feathers like the branches behind him are full of leaves and fruit.

Inside the mouse hole the earful the manager receives from the enraged customer feels distant. Icecreammare sits at the entrance, cooled by a glass of ice cubes with a fan behind it. A shady fedora-rat pats his head, licking his lips. "Stay here. If you see any more of your friends escape, sign them to come here... to safety! I'll go show the others their new home now..."

Bitty Cross is running on a wet beach with a smile and waving his hand at you, his bottom half is covered in something that might be mud, making his legs look extra long and thin. Where did he lose his shoes?! this is referencing a meme picture of a half-muddy pomeranian dog at the beach. Itty bitty Cross made a big mess on and in his shorts. He's gonna need a brush and he wants your body wash to smell like his big crush. Peel off his clothes and mind those brush strokes; take the brush away and he'll wail and wail, too much pressure and he cries in pain and pleasure, but push just right to hear him moan tight.

On the floor of the sunday store there's tiny footsteps like someone was running, then drips, and a half-melted scoop of salty liquorice ice cream. The tiny icecreammare has succumbed to the heat. Someone says: I only looked away for a second! They get a reply: Rules are rules, you let them out, you clean the mess.

Salty liquorice and "tiger"(*) ice cream balls with cookies and whipped cream and a streak of bitter raspberry sauce.

A tubular sorbet glass with whipped cream that has a note with "tRIPle deadly delight" written on it, three gravestone shaped cookies that have "RIP" carved on them, and a streak of red raspberry liquid pouring down and pooling at the bottom of the glass. There are three sentient ice cream balls inside that all look like Nightmare the skeleton. Two are grey with liquid salty liquorice all over them, and middle one is vanilla with streaks of orange jam all over it. Toppest one is trying to climb out of the glass to escape its fate, but middle one is also trying it by grabbing top one's leg, stepping on the bottom one's head. They are all different levels of terrified or upset at getting to be eaten soon. Bottom of the glass has a note of who would eat such a monstrosity of a sorbet: Pyllypiipari.

Horror suddenly lets go, and drops to the same level with Sans' face, with a huge smile and sparkles in his eyes. Sans is startled by the suddenness if it all. Horror: feels REALLY good doesn't it!? They rub you just right on the way out! Sans: pffffft ha ha ha! yeah, it does! Sans klings their foreheads together. Horror: There you are. Got me worried for a moment.. Sans lifts Horrors chin with one finger, admiring his travel buddy. Sans: .. you're very honest with your feelings. huff. Horror gives him a big smile. Horror: And you love it! Sans: heh.. I suppose I do.. Sans guides Horror closer with two of his fingers, and they kiss. Horror holds on to Sans' neck. A double shooting star is seen in the night sky.

Horror scoots backwards back to the sea. Horror: Top tier turtle eggs! Sans: huff, it's your first time seeing them. Horror: And as soon as I did, I knew they were perfect! Sans has started leaking from his eyes. (maybe it's the thing turtles do when laying eggs, or maybe not?) Horror hurries to pet and nuzzle his bigger head. Horror: You're doing amazing! What a strong, brave parent!-- Sans: I'm ok! this is just.. huff. when I'm out of water.. I dont need comforting... Sans is avoiding eye contact by shutting his eyes. Horror: Does it hurt? Horror gives Sans a little mwah on his forehead, Sans is looking away. Sans: the first couple did, but.. Sans finally leans into the comfort Horror so generously offers. Horror holds him with tender love and care, wiping the tears with his thumb. Sans: now they just.. pour out of me. huff. it feels.. um..

The bag in place, Horror's resting his head on one of Sans' back flippers, skritching his shell above the tail area to encourage egg laying. The first egg is already peeking from Sans' cloaca. Horror: You're almost there... Just a little more... The first egg pops down into the bag, followed immediately by two others. Horror leans closer, drooling a little in anticipation of him getting to eat them. Horror: Whoa, they really got going! Coming out in small groups, they're rea-- Horror hears a soft huff from Sans, and immediately his attention is directed towards how Sans is doing.

Sans keeps digging with his back flippers. Sans: usually it's not this close to the sea, but.. I .. didn't want you to miss anything.. Horror's already scooting onto the land, to see the nest better. Horror: That's so kind! Horror is up close and personal with the hole Sans is digging. Horror: So your back flippers can do more than just look cute! Such a deep hole, and you didn't even have to look! Sans: heh heh Sans: I think the hole's about the right size now, can you put the bag in there, to catch the eggs? Horror: ok! Horror places the bag he's been carrying since the deep waters inside the hole.

Later when the sun has fully set, we see Sans at the shoreline, inside a sand circle, digging away with his back flippers. Horror's back fin approaches. Sans's back flippers keep rhytmically digging. Sans: oh, you're back. Horror lifts his head from the water with big smile. Horror: I stole from the legged! Sans: oookay.. any coming this way? Horror: No, the coast is clear. Sans: great! Sans points at his back. Sans: I made the traditional egging circle. Horror lifts himself from the water to see it better. Horror: a sand nest!? Sans: heh.

Horror's back fin glides in the water along the shore. In the distance is some sort of outdoor concert with loud bass and a crowd watching the show. From the concert area, a wooden pier with a roof is sticking out to the sea. Horror swims closer. At the end of the pier, there is a set of chairs and a table, and at the table sits monsters who look like Gerson, Toriel and Snowdin shopkeeper bunny. Toriel is wearing a cone hat, and opens a pink box, from which she pulls out a snow globe with a little house and a spruce inside. Her friends clap their hands, it must be her birthday, there's plates and glasses on the table indicating they just ate something. The bunny notices something in the concert area and shouts her friends to join her, so all three leave the setting, leaving everything, even the snow globe, behind. Horror emerges from the water, interest in his eye.

Sans' head emerges near a beach at sunset. Sans: This is the one! He beaches himself so he can hug the ground, very happy to be here. Sans: aahhhh... feels so good to be back again! Sans turns his head to look at Horror, who's still just peeking from the water, his back fin showing. Sans: hey can you swim along the shore to make sure no legged are coming this way? Horror: ok. Sans: Thanks! I promise you wont miss anything interesting!

They've managed to swim to a shallower area, so now they spend their nights on the seabottom. Sans is still sleeping face down, Horror chose to sleep on top of his shell, for camouflage. During day, Horror has caught a bigger fish, and another thing resembling Sans' shitty description of a jellyfish, but it's a clear plastic bag. Sans refuses to eat it. Later, they're swimming in even shallower water. More stray nets are about, as well as other litter, maybe cans. Some of the seaweed is dead, there's more open areas with no life in it despite sunlight. Another day, Sans' back flippers got caught in a stray net, Horror tries to rip them off, but it's hard with no tools. Horror found a third thing kinda fitting Sans' description, but this one has eyes, so it's not a jellyfish? It's a squid, but Sans wants to eat it. While they eat (Horror caught a big one!) they're hiding from the legged, who are having some speedboat race or whatever. The noise from their engines echoes underwater.

The rising sun greets the couple at the open sea. Sans sleeps like a drowned person face down in the water. Horror has cleverly tied himself to Sans' front flipper with Sans' bag so they don't drift apart while they sleep. They continue their journey. A stray net is in their way, some fish or scallops or something inside it, from this distance it's hard to tell if they are alive or not. Sans points them around it. Later Horror has caught two fish for dinner, and something that resembles Sans' description to him what to look out for if he wants to feed Sans too. It's a Walmart (tm) plastic bag. Sans refuses to eat it. Later, they watch from a distance as a big oil tank passes them. Horror's trademark back fin is of course visible on the surface.

Horror turns his body so he can see up better. Horror: ohhhh I forgot about the stars! Lately I've only been up here when the sun is out... The night sky with milky way is reflected in the water. Sans barely listens, thinking of something else, looking around. Sans: cool. it'll be a few days swim to the beach... let's have a nap now and continue at daylight.

They are still ascending together but instead of the water getting lighter it's starting to get dark. Horror: hm, it's getting dark. Sans: let's have a break once we hit the surface. Some time later, they emerge under the night sky. Sans pops his head out first, Horror his trademark back fin and then his head, the angle causing the water to pour out of his sockets. (last year, I saw the Milky Way with my own eyes for the first time, it looked like this to me.)

Sans: heh Sans: Nightmare did warn me how tactile you guys are. it's kinda nice. Horror's peeking down where Sans' tail is. Horror: here? I found a hole. Sans you'll see when I lay them. Horror is instantly interested and turns to look back at Sans. Horror: You'll let me watch? Sans: if you want to-- Horror: I do! Sans: heh heh.
