There is clearly a missing check-and-balance system. Not sure what could help -- shorter terms? Maybe ranked-choice voting where the top (n) vote getters share responsibility or something. Has anybody ever come up with a workable system?

They have, in their typical inarticulate way. They can't be expected to be able to clearly express something; that goes entirely against everything about them. Think about it; when has any republican issued a simple, clear, believable statement? It's beyond them.

Starting to look like the answer is yes! I haven't connected to a local news channel in quite some time though. I'd be interested in a local newspaper but...oh, right, there hasn't been one of those in quite some time either.
