It must be able to consistently predict itself & the environment.
To that end it necessarily develops/evolves abilities like learning, environment/self sensing, modeling, memory, salience, planning, heuristics, skills...

AGI, not AGI, whatever you wanna call any AI technology today or tomorrow - I *love* how we just casually glance over the fact that the absolute top of the crop would have predicted today's AI capabilities to be several decades away when asked a mere two years ago.
