I, and many others, are incredibly disturbed by the recent actions taken by our HHS director and the recent resignations at the CDC. The latest issue of my newsletter was supposed to discuss vaccinations since August is National Vaccination Awareness Month.
Small, incremental change
August is National Immunization Awareness Month. In this issue, I wanted to write about the importance of getting the appropriate vaccinations especially since the school year is starting or has start...

July is Shark Month and is reaching its end. It is also the 50th anniversary of the release of the movie Jaws. And I am heading off soon on my next scuba diving adventure to Belize where I hope to dive with many sharks!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the @American-Library-Association's annual conference in Philadelphia with my publisher @BroadBookGroup. I came away energized but also sad. Our present administration has cut funding to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (@us-imls).
Ignorance is bliss – but not something we should aspire to
This past weekend I was cocooned in the warm embrace of books at the @American-Library-Association's annual conference in Philadelphia. A fitting location for an organization providing “leadership for...

I've had a difficult time writing issues of my newsletter because there are so many topics I can tackle that I can't decide. I chose to write about witch hunts this week because it is, sadly, more than timely.

This week is National Public Health Week and this year's overall theme is Health Equity Starts Here. In the latest issue of my newsletter, I discuss what public health is and detail several public health successes.

Please do not jump on the chaos bandwagon. Care before you share. Think before you react. Rushing to judgment serves no one well. The latest issue of my LinkedIn newsletter discusses this topic shorturl.at/D6lEh.

Take care. It's scary out there!
Stop, Drop and Roll
This issue of my newsletter is a gripe session, but please bear with me. I was in the middle of writing a different issue when I was just overwhelmed with chaos this past week.

I really wanted it to be true! Do you ever see something that may or may not be true but you really hope that it is true? What do you do with that? Do you share it hoping that the more people see it the more it may become reality? Or do you just move on? Or do you engage in some way?

As 2024 wanes and we anticipate 2025, we wanted to look back to last week’s festivities and ask, “Do you believe in Santa Claus?"

Cayman Islands ray. Turns out, it swims faster than I do.
I was torn between staying with my buddy (always something you should do) and chasing this lovely specimen.

This video was taken in the Caymans this summer. We say many rays and I did enjoy watching this interaction of ray and fish.
