I keep saying I'm using my name and not Bay Mud on this platform because I want to share more than just synth stuff, so here's a piece of art I made for a local show recently (ink and marker on paper, mounted to wood panel)

My new favourite photo, taken at the show the other week

It pays to have a friend who is a woodworker with a laser cutter. Fresh new black walnut sides for my trusty Deluge!

Couldn't resist this weird cheesy Yamaha EZ AG midi guitar (with buttons!). Both better and worse than I expected, which is perfect

Forgot about this little piece I did as a test for the bigger one that is currently part of the Easy Tiger show at Farside in Hamilton. Been super reinvigorating to get back into physical art (not to mention use the supplied I've hoarded for decades)

Felt good to get out of my sketchbook and paint (something that wasn't a guitar pedal). In excellent company as part of the Easy Tiger show at B-Side Gallery in Hamilton until Aug. 3

I think I mostly like the cover, which is a digital painting I did in Rebelle 7 before taking it to Affinity Photo for some layer edits

Playing an electronic Bay Mud set at The Brightroom in Hamilton on June 30 with Arma Agharta (Lithuania!) and The Vwls (also Hamilton). Should be fun (working on a new set with some different gear as we speak)

Friend lent me an old Casio MG-510 guitar w/built-in MIDI. Here the strings are on different MIDI channels and triggering Deluge synths. Super fun! Might try a longer video/exploration, but definitely getting myself something to use more permanently as there's so much potential for nonsense

BTS shot of the setup for that Pluto video. Lugged the coffee table up to the studio and popped it on a keyboard stand for some extra height

Felt good taking the money I would have spent on renewing my distrokid subscription and buying people's music on Bandcamp instead

Thought I'd try to look dead serious while doing something silly as the artist image for my new Patient Whales project (patientwhales.bandcamp.com)

Here's my "raccoon wizard" from the latest weekly drawing challenge from @dimitrispanta.bsky.social's Discord. Been having fun following these prompts so far
February 26, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Been getting back into semi-regular sketching by way of @dimitrispanta.bsky.social's weekly Discord art challenges. I first joined in time for the "Pirate Queen" prompt and did a quick fountain pen portrait of Zheng Yi Sao, who was apparently one of the most successful pirates

Any other Deluge users planning to submit for the preset competition? I expect some excellent presets from a few synth wizards and hope to do a few myself. Been having fun experimenting with the S&H and Random Walk LFO shapes as a start. Here's the submission form: forms.gle/RmzB39RFGNPz...

It finally happened! I got called out as a "gear tuber" for offering my opinion on synth gear. Does that mean I can start collecting my free stuff and payola now?

Was asked to paint a pair of shoes for Hamilton Winterfest. Pretty happy with how they turned out (the theme was "space"). Should remember to post more art (which means I should remember to more drawing/painting)

I was so nervous during my set the other night but it seemed to go over well. After I was finished a lovely person I didn't recognize passed me a folded piece of paper with this drawing (and transcription of my awkward banter)

The "final" rig for tonight's Bay Mud set as part of Noise Night in Hamilton (8PM, Doors Pub). A rough plan of live ambient improv based on some loose ideas and tricks. Should be fun!

This mess of wires is coming with me for my set as part of Noise Night in Hamilton tomorrow night
