the closer we are physically, the closer we are socially.
I didn’t say they excluded others, just that they seem obsessed with them. We dedicate so much time talking about them

Yes actually!
November 24, 2025 at 4:35 AM
I am. Because they suck and I want housing discourse to rage against them in major cities when planners rely on them.
November 24, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Lmao. What a total idiot. Jesus Christ

Seattle

That zone was so pathetic I think HB1110 was the excuse to finally kill it off
November 24, 2025 at 4:06 AM
In rural, exurban and suburban areas i agree these work. They are unrealistic in Seattle
November 24, 2025 at 4:06 AM
“The economy party” wants to go after the liberal cities that produce 80% of US GDP
November 24, 2025 at 4:03 AM
Look at OPCDs examples. They’re obsessed. All the outreach meetings they talked about cottage courts. Every planner told me smaller 700sf homes cost less thus are affordable
November 23, 2025 at 5:43 PM
My opinion is to allow far more and let everyone’s choices whether it’s a sixplex or these cottages be options to build. The planners dont want that tho. They want to mandate cottages
November 23, 2025 at 5:24 PM
I agree. It’s a bummer Greg left right when he could actually do stuff he wants to do. But it was personal for him going back to LA and I understand.

Works for WSDOT. Hes not coming back
November 23, 2025 at 5:21 PM
Emery doesn’t agree with Wilson. So she’s got to go
November 23, 2025 at 5:20 PM
How big are these? 700sf with a stair?
November 23, 2025 at 4:24 PM
I’m all for them being legal. What I don’t like is the obsession by planners that spend way too much time on it. Its not a real solution
November 23, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Everyone who defends these basically says “people want options” then spend all their energy making these the only option. There’s always a mountain of excuses too, like “we need fee simple”
November 23, 2025 at 4:20 PM
It’s further than SFHs for sure. Unfortunately we need more. Plus the basic things like sixplexes produce bigger units
November 23, 2025 at 4:17 PM
There’s like 2 projects in all of Seattles history built like these cottage courts i dont get why we are obsessed with them. Sure make it an option. Have you seen how much of the code they dedicate to this? Its insane
November 23, 2025 at 4:13 PM
I don’t care what the density is. The result sucks. I don’t want an 800 sq ft house. Density doesn’t have to be small
November 23, 2025 at 4:10 PM
You can fit 12 units on single levels at 1200 square feet on 10,000 square foot lots by building two sixplexes

Planners just cannot let go of small town mindset of US cities and it’s pricing entire generations out of cities because they cant stand change
