While I don't disagree that it can be more punishing, it's the roguelite nature of DD2 that puts me off when combined with it. I don't feel like I've lost a character I'm attached to, I just feel like I was cheated out of a 2-hour long run.

Having gone back and given it a second shake, myself, a couple months ago I just feel like it's far too unforgiving with its RNG to be a roguelike experience.
If you've never tried the first Darkest Dungeon you may find it to be more appealing, esp. with some mods to tweak what you don't like.

I've been using a Dualsense for a while and it's a comfortable controller that, thanks to Steam Input, just works with pretty much everything these days.
