It contains more jets for the carbie. Close-up of a spark plug, being held in a black-gloved hand (it was hot!). Lino print of a platypus. Description and story by the artist Jon Kudelka: The South Hobart rivulet famously used to have a platypus. These days, thanks to some tireless work replanting native trees and general tidying up by local residents, it now has multiple platypuses/platypus/platypi, feel free to argue amongst yourselves about how to spell the plural. I used to take the kids down platypus hunting with sporadic luck when they were at primary school. A couple of years ago I was put out of action with a brain tumour and when I managed to become relatively mobile, I got taken down to look for the platypus with my walker as it was a relatively short walk with a very good payoff if you got lucky, so the perfect regular exercise. The first sign that my luck was turning around was that I spotted a platypus the first time and was able to sit comfortably on my little walker while it swam about. When I was a kid, dad was determined to ensure that if called upon in an emergency, me and my two sisters were capable of spelling "ornithorhynchus" which is the genus which the playpus belongs to. Sadly an emergency requiring this rather specific nugget never arose, however the first time I saw it, there were a few primary school kids around watching and the youngest one of the group who clearly knew his zoological classification kept shouting "Ornchy! Ornchy!" which as far as I was concerned, became the platypus' name.
