I'll give credit where credit is due, Galley has improved a ton.
Greg Millen had a similar arc. He was unbearable in the booth at first, but developed into a solid broadcaster.
I saw Galley behind the studio desk a few seasons ago, and he was better than anyone they've had on HNIC in a decade.
