aftr thoughts :P!! I find it so much easier to love others hcs when they're easy to digest and have small things added to the character. ofc I'm not saying make that cast cishet and white lol, I hc characters queer, disabled, fat, and poc a good bit of the time and it's fun!!!

I guess the lesson of the rant:
make your hcs reasonable (to you) and realistic. make that character have body issues, make that character closeted, make that character ashamed of how they look, make that character envious of others because of things they cannot control.

you don't need to stick to canon either, like if a char goes by she/her, but you get a lil he/they vibe you should absolutely go for it, js wanted to clarify ig. I have no issue with not sticking to canon, only when people misrepresent minorities :(

I get projecting onto characters you like, I absolutely do, but you have so much more to yourself than your identity... what about those small things you do that are unique to you? what about your cringy but funny drawings from when you were younger??

this pisses me off esp with hcs that are JUST ALL poc fat they/them + neos 90 sexualities and 700 genders
there is no problem if you want like 1 or 2 characters to be a little fat with a dash of xenogenders, but making THE ENTIRE CAST like that defeats the ENTIRE purpose of making them minorities.

-one can't be poc, disabled, queer, etc.. yes, you CAN have an all minority cast ONLY if you explain why, like 6 queer kiddos find each other and are outcasts for being out of the closet. that's normal, that's realistic, that isn't making cishet white men the minority.

the whole point of representing minorities is because, they're minorities... if you make the majority of a cast queer and don't explain anything else, that implies your world has mostly queer and it's normalized.

as someone who does have a heavier chest (I'm not inviting anyone to objectify me or judge my body btw) it does make me anxious and nervous about my body even more when dramatic hourglass figures like mine are heavily objectified and sexualized in media ngl
