What I tend to do is look for hotels on tube routes. They tend to be a lot cheaper. I say around Beckton and Woolwich tend to be OK.

Also towards Romford and Heathrow can be OK. Just longer tube lines.

Look further out london on tubes. Might be a good option ^-^
